All Invited to Attend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 11, 2024) – New Season Treatment Center is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new healthcare facility in Tallahassee, dedicated to providing comprehensive care to patients with Opioid Use Disorder. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2024, and members of the news media, government officials and the local community residents are welcome to attend.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in New Season Treatment Center’s mission to offer opioid addiction treatment and recovery services to Tallahassee and the surrounding areas, including Lafayette Park, Meadowbrook, Levy Park, Frenchtown, College Town and Old St. Augustine.

Dr. Sabrita Thurman-Newby, program director at New Season Treatment Center, expressed her personal connection to the community, stating, “I was born and raised in the Historic Community of Frenchtown and now reside in the Historic Bond Community. Both communities have experienced episodes of various addictions, where I have seen firsthand the influences of addiction, increased crime rates and family separations.”

With a focus on addressing the opioid addiction crisis, the facility is equipped with a dedicated team of treatment specialists, including experienced doctors, compassionate nurses and skilled counselors. Dr. Thurman-Newby emphasized the facility’s goals, saying, “Our efforts will produce the outcomes that will help to reunite families, reduce recidivism rates, and provide a forum for continued successful recovery through medication-assisted treatment and counseling.”

New Season Treatment Center’s program for opioid addiction treatment includes Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), counseling, medically-supervised withdrawal, medical exams, convenient outpatient services, referrals, confidentiality and take-home benefits. This comprehensive approach addresses both the physiological and psychological aspects of addiction.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 25 will include a welcome and introduction by Dr. Thurman-Newby, and special remarks by CEO Jim Shaheen and esteemed local authorities: Chief of Police Lawrence Revell, Sheriff Steve Harrelson and Crime Prevention Unit Specialist Brandon Ortiz. The event will also offer an overview of services, a facility tour and a symbolic ribbon cutting to officially mark the grand opening.

Members of the media, government officials and the local community are invited to attend this important event and learn more about New Season Treatment Center’s commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by opioid addiction.
