Dr. Eric Folkens, MD, is a family medicine doctor and pharmaceutical medical researcher based in Bradenton, Florida. He has over 34 years of experience in the medical field and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida. Throughout his career, Dr. Folkens has held positions in group practices and worked as a contract physician for several local urgent care centers. He is the founder of Bradenton, Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch Urgent Cares and has also practiced in Pinellas Park and Tampa, Florida.


Dr. Folkens obtained his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in 2002. He then did his residency in family medicine at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Texas, where he was the Chief Resident. He is a member of the Society for Clinical Research Sites, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Manatee County Medical Society. In addition, he is an American Board of Family Medicine-certified Diplomate.


As the Medical Director of the Bradenton Research Center, Dr. Folkens seeks better ways to treat various diseases. The Bradenton Research Center conducts medical studies and clinical trials to give people in and around Bradenton, Florida, the best treatment and care possible. The Center is dedicated to working with new medicines for today and the future of health care. Since its foundation in 1992, the center has conducted over 150 clinical research studies, including those on Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, influenza, migraines, COVID, gout, Myasthenia Gravis, Sjogren's and many more.

Board-certified Family Medicine physician and Principal Investigator since 2017, leading a multi-therapeutic research site with over 30 years of patient database and established referral networks with local physicians and specialists. Experienced across Phase 1b-Phase IV trials, with oversight of protocol execution, informed consent, AE/SAE assessment, and regulatory compliance (ICH-GCP), and supervision of sub-investigators, coordinators, and research staff in collaboration with sponsors, CROS, and IRBS.
