New Season Treatment Center Releases 2025 Annual Report: A Year of Growth, Innovation, and Expanded Access to Care
New Season Treatment Center has released its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year marked by significant growth, expanded services, and continued clinical excellence in the treatment of opioid use disorder. The report reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to increasing access to high-quality, compassionate care while strengthening outcomes for the communities it serves.
“This past year represents one of the most impactful periods in our organization’s history,” CEO Jim Shaheen, said. “Our growth is not simply about numbers; it’s about reaching more individuals with life-saving treatment and continuing to elevate the standard of care in opioid addiction treatment.”
Record Growth and Organizational Milestones
In 2025, New Season reached the highest patient census in its 39-year history, serving 33,469 patients across the country. The organization expanded its footprint to 90 treatment centers in 20 states, increasing access to care in communities where treatment is critically needed.
This past year marked a period of meaningful growth and impact, with every milestone focused on expanding access, strengthening support, and improving the patient experience:
- The highest patient census in our 39-year history, giving us the privilege of supporting more individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness.
- Expansion to 90 treatment centers across 20 states, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care is available close to home and within the communities where patients live and work.
- More than 393,000 counseling sessions and 135,000 medical evaluations delivered, providing safe, supportive spaces where every person can be heard, understood, and guided through individualized care.
- Expanded access to flexible care options, including significant investments in telehealth, Primary Care Services, and the addition of 26 new Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)—making it easier for patients to receive the right level of care at the right time.
- More than $10.6 million secured through grants and settlements, allowing critical resources to be reinvested directly into patient programs, services, and community support initiatives.
- The lowest employee turnover in many years, helping ensure continuity of care and stronger, more trusted relationships between patients and their care teams.
“Our ability to expand while strengthening our workforce reflects the dedication of our teams and the trust placed in us by the communities we serve,” Shaheen said. “Stable, engaged staff directly translate into better patient experiences and outcomes.”
Advancing Patient Care Through Innovation
New Season continued to enhance its clinical model to meet patients where they are and support long-term recovery.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) remains the foundation of care, using evidence-based medications such as methadone, buprenorphine, and Suboxone® alongside counseling and medical services.
In 2025:
- Telehealth services supported 15,899 quarterly prescriber telehealth appointments
- The number of telecounseling patients increased by 49%
- 28 Primary Care Services programs advanced integrated physical and behavioral healthcare
- Updated clinical guidelines now allow for higher initial dosing to help patients stabilize more quickly
- A new holistic six-point evaluation process supports safe and individualized decisions for take-home medications
“We continue to evolve our clinical practices based on evidence and patient needs,” Shaheen noted. “By integrating primary care, expanding telehealth, and refining treatment protocols, we are improving both access and long-term recovery success.”
Supporting Whole-Person Health With Primary Care
At New Season, recovery isn’t just about treating opioid dependence; it’s about caring for the whole person. In 2025, we expanded Primary Care Services through partnerships with trusted local providers, making it easier for patients to access preventive health care, chronic condition management, and routine medical support all within the familiarity of their treatment environment.
These integrated services help patients stay healthier overall, address medical needs that can impact recovery, and coordinate care so physical and behavioral health go hand-in-hand. Early results show stronger patient engagement and meaningful health improvements across our network.
By bringing primary care into the treatment journey, New Season is helping patients take control of both their recovery and their overall well-being.
Helping Patients Gain Flexibility With Take-Home Medications
An important part of New Season’s approach to care is providing take-home medication privileges for patients who meet clinical criteria and demonstrate stability in their treatment. These take-home options give individuals more independence and help reduce the number of daily clinic visits, making it easier to balance treatment with work, family, and other responsibilities.
Take-home medications are granted through a structured process that considers each patient’s progress and safety, allowing more freedom while maintaining the strong support and accountability that contribute to long-term recovery.
Removing Insurance Barriers to Care
Access to treatment shouldn’t depend on navigating complex insurance requirements. New Season Treatment Center partners with many major insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, to help patients use their existing coverage whenever possible.
For those without insurance or exploring new options, New Season also offers free Health Insurance Marketplace assistance. This one-on-one support helps individuals understand their options, enroll in coverage, and avoid gaps that could interrupt treatment—ensuring patients can focus on recovery, not paperwork.
Bringing Care Directly to Patients With Mobile Units
In 2025, New Season continued removing barriers to care by expanding its mobile treatment unit network—an innovative approach that brings opioid treatment services directly into underserved and rural communities. With the Portland and Greensboro mobile units already on the road serving patients, New Season has more mobile units on the way where transportation and access challenges often make consistent care difficult.
These mobile units function as extensions of nearby treatment centers and provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and telehealth counseling right where patients live. “Our mobile program is designed to meet patients where they are—physically and emotionally,” Shaheen said, underscoring New Season’s commitment to expanding access for individuals who might otherwise struggle to reach care.
By bringing essential services closer to home, these mobile units help reduce travel barriers and ensure more people can stay engaged and supported on their recovery journeys.
Expanding Access Through Strategic Growth
In 2025, New Season completed its first acquisition in many years with the addition of Private Clinic North in northwest Georgia, further enhancing access to high-quality opioid treatment services for patients in that region. By integrating this well-established clinic into the New Season network, we are able to bring expanded treatment options, care continuity, and additional clinical resources to individuals and families seeking support close to home.
This strategic growth reflects New Season’s ongoing commitment to removing geographic barriers and ensuring more people have access to compassionate, evidence-based care when they need it most. The Private Clinic North acquisition strengthens local treatment capacity and supports our broader mission of reaching more individuals across the country.
Strengthening Community Impact
The organization’s increased grant and settlement funding allowed New Season to broaden outreach, enhance services, and support community-based initiatives aimed at reducing the impact of opioid addiction.
“Every dollar secured through grants and partnerships helps us reach individuals who might otherwise face barriers to treatment,” Shaheen said. “Our mission is to remove those barriers wherever possible.”
Meaningful Change That Improves Lives
At New Season, success is measured by the real-life progress patients experience every day. Outcomes from 2025 show that consistent counseling and clinical support are driving meaningful, lasting change across key areas of patients’ lives.
Since intake, patients experienced:
- 8.83% improvement in stable housing
- 31.09% improvement in employment
- 65.02% reduction in opioid use
- 13.93% reduction in criminal justice involvement
- .45% improvement in school or vocational participation
These results reflect more than clinical progress; they represent individuals rebuilding stability, independence, and hope.
As one patient shared, “This place saved my life. I couldn’t get out of bed without using. Thanks for taking me out of the daily misery I felt stuck in.”
By combining counseling, medical care, and ongoing support, New Season helps patients move beyond crisis and toward healthier, more stable futures.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Building on the momentum of 2025, New Season has outlined ambitious plans for continued expansion and innovation.
Key priorities for 2026 include:
- Opening 8 new treatment centers
- Expanding mobile unit capabilities to reach underserved and rural areas
- Adding 22 additional Primary Care Services programs
- Expanding Intensive Outpatient Programs into a total of 15 states
“Our vision for the future is clear,” Shaheen said. “We will continue to grow responsibly, innovate clinically, and ensure that anyone seeking treatment for opioid use disorder has access to compassionate, high-quality care.”
