Currently, the county does not have a brick-and-mortar Opioid Treatment Program, requiring residents to travel outside the area for care—an obstacle that often delays or prevents treatment. This partnership brings lifesaving treatment into the community, improving access, reducing transportation barriers, and helping prevent overdose deaths.

Access to treatment does more than help individuals begin recovery; it strengthens entire communities. Programs like On the Road to Recovery have demonstrated meaningful impacts beyond reducing overdose deaths, including helping patients secure stable housing, increasing employment rates, and encouraging individuals to pursue education and vocational opportunities.

As opioid use decreases, communities may also see fewer emergency medical responses and reduced strain on local resources. These outcomes contribute to safer neighborhoods, a stronger workforce, and improved quality of life for residents across Alamance County, reinforcing that expanding access to treatment benefits both patients and the community as a whole.

“Our mobile units are designed to meet patients where they are and provide immediate access to compassionate, evidence-based care,” Mike Garone of New Season Treatment Center, said. “When people can access treatment, the benefits extend far beyond the individual—supporting healthier families, stronger communities, and greater stability for the neighborhoods we serve.”

“We are honored to partner with the Alamance County Health Department to bring these lifesaving services directly into the community,” Garone noted.

Ashley Barber, MPA, Behavioral Health Division Director for the Alamance County Health Department, emphasized the importance of offering flexible, patient-centered care options.

“Recovery looks different for each person. We aim to ensure we have multiple pathways available in Alamance County—whether through medication, counseling, or community support—we want to empower individuals to choose the approach that works best for them. Through collaborative partnerships, we aim to save lives, restore hope, and strengthen our community,” Barber said.

The On the Road to Recovery program reflects New Season’s national commitment to expanding access to care in underserved and high-need areas. Mobile units like this one provide medication management, clinical support, and connections to additional recovery resources in a safe, structured environment.

Community leaders, healthcare providers, and local organizations are encouraged to help spread awareness of the new location and services.
