{"id":1605,"date":"2017-09-21T17:35:59","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T17:35:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newseason.com\/?p=1605"},"modified":"2023-11-16T18:59:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T18:59:32","slug":"new-season-celebrates-national-recovery-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newseason.com\/blog\/2017\/09\/21\/new-season-celebrates-national-recovery-month\/","title":{"rendered":"New Season Celebrates National Recovery Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>National Recovery Month<\/strong>\u00a0in September is a time when New Season celebrates patients and their recovery milestones.\u00a0 This year, all New Season Treatment Centers held a special event at each of their treatment centers called &#8220;<strong>Patient Appreciation Day<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0 Each treatment team came up with unique fun ideas on how to commemorate this day with food, activities and more.<\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newseason.com\/clinics\/portland-metro-treatment-center\/\">Portland Metro Treatment Center<\/a>, the team wanted to celebrate their patients with a special day dedicated to serving them.\u00a0 The team members\u00a0transformed the treatment center into a full-filled<strong> Resource Fair\u00a0<\/strong>complete with music, colorful balloons, a hot dog station, sodas, chips, cookies, candy, water, popcorn and puffs!<\/p>\n<p>Counselors created <strong>Resource and Goody Stations<\/strong> throughout the clinic for patients to visit.\u00a0 Each station was attended to by a counselor to answer questions about their station and provide flyers with valuable information on free or nearly free community services.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newseason.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0987.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1606\" src=\"https:\/\/newseason.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0987.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newseason.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0987.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.newseason.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0987-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stations included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Transportation Station<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0reliable transportation is a common barrier for many patients to easily get to work, got back to school and continue treatment. Patients were given applications for a local, non-profit mechanic who repairs automobiles whose cost for repairs is a sliding scale based on income. Reduced public transit applications were also given out.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Free Services Station<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0a\u00a0popular resource board included information on various types of free services including free laundry schedules at local laundromats, free appliance repair, free clothing locations, and an expungement clinic for those wanting to clean up their criminal history for better employment opportunities in the future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Childcare Station<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0childcare is needed for many patients. This resource board supplied information about where to find quality low-cost childcare, including Head Start, Boys and Girls Club, Champions, and other after school programs such as YMCA- all of which are free or low-cost.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Pet Station<\/strong> &#8211; a shelter adoption of a loving pet can bring new meaning and joy to many.\u00a0 Patients were able to find out more information on important pet care services to keep their companions healthy like\u00a0free and low-cost spay\/neuter services, vaccinations, long term care and vet emergency care.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Self-Care Station<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0self-care is very important to recovery and it can easily become a low priority if cost is a barrier.
